Gerald “Buck” D. Grimsled, age 72, of Viroqua, passed away surrounded by family on June 10th, 2017 at the Bland-Bekkedal Center for Hospice Care. He was born on September 25th, 1944 at home to Arnold and Camilla (Payne) Grimsled. He attended and graduated from Seneca High School in 1962. On October 30th, 1964 he married Dawn Caya in Waukon, IA. In 1964 he also enlisted in the US Army. They farmed until 1987 when he began driving dump truck for Brockway Trucking.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dawn Grimsled; Children, Gerald “Bucky” (Amy) Grimsled Jr., Barry (Rachel Foster) Grimsled, Heather (Steve Olson) Grimsled, and Amy (Kurt) Baumgartner; a son-in-law, Kenneth Sandvick; Grandchildren, Ashley and Jesse Sandvick, Dakota, Paige, and Addison Grimsled, Barry “Scotty” Grimsled Jr, Cassandra Grimsled, Teana Foster, Brady Hoff, Baylee Grimsled, Dylan Grimsled, and Hunter Baumgartner. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Clarice Brockway and Marilyn Robinson; Daughter, Malinda Sandvick; and a grandson, Zachary Hoff.
Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, June 14th at 6 p.m. at the Thorson Funeral Home in Viroqua with Pastor Kathy Ingbritsen officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
