Irwin G. Buros, age 98, of Viroqua, passed away peacefully on December 23rd, at the Bland-Bekkedal Center for Hospice Care surrounded by his family. He was born on August 6th, 1919 to Oscar and Alma (Nottestad) Buros. He attended a one room rural school and graduated from Westby High School in 1937. He attended the La Crosse Vocational Business School. On May 4th, 1946 he married Carol A. Bringe at South Prairie Lutheran Church. He farmed north of Westby until going to work for General Cigar Co. for 5 years; he then worked for Delano Granite Works for 3 years. He then purchased a farm near La Farge in 1951 and farmed until he went to work for American Family Insurance in 1959. He was the Viroqua agent until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and was active on the church council and other committees. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing.
He is survived by his children, Allan Buros of Kenosha, and Diane (Kent) Christensen of Mound, MN; two grandchildren, Andrea (Dave) Zdenek of St. Paul, MN, and Kyle (Cara) Christensen of Mound, MN; one great-grandson, Keaton Christensen of Mound, MN; and a sister, Lorraine (Ray) Yates, as well as many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; his parents, Oscar and Alma Buros; brothers, Norman Buros, Carl Buros, and Harold (Thelma) Buros; sisters, Margaret (Clarence) Anderson, Clarice (Howard) Lord, Alice Mae (Fred) Harvait, and Adelaide Mae Buros, as well as other family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 28th, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Pastor Yvonne Marshall officiating. Burial will take place in the Viroqua Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. The family asks memorials be made to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
