Glen G. Fuhrman, age 86, of rural Ferryville, passed away on October 12th, 2018 at Gunderson Health System in La Crosse. He was born on December 11th, 1931 near Arlington, Iowa to Carl and Alice (Briggs) Fuhrman. The youngest of four boys, he spent his early life on the family farm. He attended country school and graduated from Lamont High School in 1950. On December 1st, 1953 he married Beulah May Manchester at United Methodist Church in Strawberry Point, Iowa. They were the parents of three children. He entered the United States Army in January 1955 and served in Germany with the 3rd Armored Cavalry. After his discharge he farmed in northeast Iowa and southwest Wisconsin. He enjoyed draft horses, antique farm equipment, and the old ways of farming. He was a member of the Retreat United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife Beulah; children John (Sharon) of Puyallup, WA, Patricia (Bill) of Cadiz, KY, and Doug of Ferryville; 5 grandchildren Laura, Amy, David, Daniel, and Sarah; 5 great-grandchildren; a brother Duane of Wayzata, MN; as well as many other nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Clarence (Kathryn), Carl “Jiggs” (Florence) and a sister-in-law Mary, as well as other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 20that 11 a.m. at the Retreat United Methodist Church in Retreat with Pastor Pam Harkema officiating. Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
