John S. (Jack) Adamski, 78 of Viroqua, formerly of LaCrosse, passed away peacefully after a courageous yearlong battle with cancer. Jack was born May 31st 1940, the middle child and only boy to John & Marie (Murphy) Adamski. John was adored and doted on throughout his life by his loving sisters Mary and Helen. Jack spent much of his life enjoying the outdoors and was an ‘expert’ of sorts on local plant and wildlife. He was a well read, educated and respected man; an amazing philosopher. Jack was very creative and expressed himself through his artistic talents, like photography, drawing, painting, and wood carving. Jack was a longtime friend of Bill W. and took great pride in his journey through recovery. 28 years, 1 week, 1 day sober. His influence and impact in the program will never be forgotten.
Jack is survived by his biological children Jason, Jody, Thalia (Steven), and James (Michelle) plus his loving sisters Mary Adamski and Helen North. He is further survived by his grandchildren, a niece, great grandchildren, great niece and nephew and countless family members that he loved and accepted as his own.
Jack is proceeded in death by his parents, John F. Adamski and Marie C. (Murphy) Adamski.
He was known as “Papa” and ‘Uncle Jack” to so many. Jack will be remembered most by his soft, eloquently spoken voice that drew in a crowd, his signature fedora hats, family spaghetti nights and nature walks. He will be missed at the farmers market, the coffee shop, library, and the backyard deck, looking over his family, friends, and acquaintances with a cup of coffee in hand.
A Time of Sharing will be held on Sunday, August 12th, 2018 at noon at the Thorson Funeral Home in Viroqua. Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
