Lorraine Marie Hanson, age 78 of rural Ferryville passed away on Wednesday, April 4th, 2018 at the Vernon Manor Nursing Home in Viroqua. She was born on November 11th, 1939 to Albert and Helen (Hutson) Peterson, one of eleven children. She graduated from Gays Mills High School in 1957 and on August 3, 1957 married Donald “Red” Hanson. They farmed in the Town of Utica for several years. She was an avid reader.
Lorraine is survived by her husband, Donald “Red” Hanson, three children; Debra (Paul) Grant of Viroqua, Ricky (Diane) Hanson of Stoddard, Larry (Patty) Hanson of Ferryville, four grandchildren, Andrew Grant, Adam Grant, Jaime Kussmaul, Angela Clark, six great grandchildren, Melaina, Brielle, Arissa, Braedyn Grant, Natalie and Lilyana Kussmaul.
She is also survived by five sisters, Joanne Halverson, Anita (Roger) Hansen, Dorothy Ann Fortney,
Marilyn Kleppe, Cheryl (Carl) Olson, four brothers, Jim (Beatrice) Peterson, Gordon Peterson, Randy (Janelle) Peterson, John Peterson. She is further survived by inlaws, Harriet Swangstu, Howard (Helen) Hanson, and Lorna (Fritz) Perkins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded death by her parents, one brother, Ronald Peterson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 14th, 2018 at the Thorson Funeral Home in Viroqua with Pastor Kathy Ingbritsen officiating. Burial will be in the Freeman Church Cemetery at rural Ferryville. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. prior to the funeral.
