Welcome to the memorial page for

Marcia Kay Andrew

January 19, 1955 ~ June 11, 2017 (age 62)

Marcia Kay (Lemanski) Andrew, aged 62, died unexpectedly in the early morning hours of June 11, 2017 at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua with her family by her side. Marcia was born January 19, 1955 in Madison, WI, the daughter of Dr. Lawrence and Mary Jean (Smith) Lemanski.  She received her Bachelor of Nursing degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in May 1977.  She worked in the Cardiac Surgery Unit at University Hospital in Madison.  Following their move to Kalamazoo, MI, in June 1980 to pursue Mark’s General Surgery residency, she was united in marriage to Dr. Mark Andrew in Verona, WI, on April 4, 1981.  She continued to work in the Borgess Hospital ICU in Kalamazoo until June 1985, when they moved to Viroqua to begin Mark’s surgical career.

Marcia became a stay-at-home Mom and loved raising their 3 children. Together, they built their dream home in 1989 on the eastern edge of Viroqua.  She took great pride in her flower beds, gardens, and landscaping as well as their extensive antique collection. And she loved her monthly Book Group friends. This also allowed Marcia to pursue numerous volunteer activities in the Viroqua community.  Chief among these was her involvement with the Vernon County Historical Society.  She has overseen activities at the Society’s Sherry-Butt House for over 25 years.  She became a mainstay on the VCHS Board of Directors, currently serving as President.  She also led the Society’s Capital Campaign with Gary Krause to fund a handicapped-accessible elevator to make all levels of the museum accessible to all visitors.  She took great joy in the completion of that Capital Campaign just this past week!  She also served many years as Jessica’s Girl Scout leader. Marcia greatly enjoyed traveling with Mark, especially when the travel involved the pursuit of the next great antique for their collection.  They had a fantastic time on their trip to Paris last fall. She also became a stalwart Badger and Packer fan – as long as you didn’t ask her to sit out in the cold!

Marcia is survived by her husband, Dr. Mark Andrew, of Viroqua and Webster City, IA; three children: Jessica (Nate Graney) Andrew of Mt. Horeb, WI, Brian (Ashley) Andrew of Weston, WI, and Dr. Benjamin Andrew of Madison, WI;  her mother, Mary Lemanski of Verona, WI; three siblings: David (Ellen) Lemanski of Mt. Horeb, WI, Julie Lemanski of Oshkosh, WI, and Lynn (Rod Girkin) Lemanski of Madison, WI; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Lawrence Lemanski.

Marcia was greatly anticipating the growth of all three of her children’s families, especially the upcoming arrival of what was to be her first grandchild in October.  She was an incredible person, dearly loved by her family, friends, and all she worked with. She will be greatly missed. You have touched us so deeply, and loved us so completely, that whenever we hear the wind in your chimes, or catch scent of the flowers you so gently tended, we shall remember you and the unending ways you touched our lives.     Mark, Jessica, Nate, Brian, Ashley and Ben.
