Marjorie Erickson, age 87, passed away at Vernon Memorial Hospital on March 3rd, 2019 with family at her side. She was born in Vernon County on August 15th, 1931to Virgil and Winifred (Best) Christenson. On June 4th, 1949 she married Charles “Pete” Erickson at the Bad Axe Lutheran Church. They farmed near Viroqua, later purchasing their farm near Westby, then retired to city of Westby. She loved her vacations out west, Florida, Hawaii, but especially her fishing trips to Chetek with her brother-in-law and sister-in-law. She loved cooking her special meals for her family and friends, fish frys, birthdays or any occasion she could think of. She was a faithful member of the Viroqua Church of Christ and served both God and her family to the best of her ability.
She is survived by her husband Charles “Pete” Erickson; daughter Judith (Dennis) Larson; son Gary (Beth) Erickson; daughter-in-law Lori Erickson; grandchildren Amy (Scott) Haakenson, Heath (Lorraine) Erickson, Myriah (Mike) Coughlin, Nikki Grant, Emily Mikkelson, 14 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter. She was also survived by many other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son Timothy Erickson, parents Virgil and Winifred Christenson, siblings Iona Skrede, Verna Tryggestad, Darrel Christenson, Virgil Christenson Jr., and Claire Christenson, as well as other family and friends. Blessed be her memory.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 9th, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the Viroqua Church of Christ with Pastor Ray Matteson officiating. Burial will take place in the Coon Prairie Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Viroqua Church of Christ, or the Bland-Bekkedahl Center for Hospice.
