Harry D. Fox, Age 97, of Viroqua formerly of Sun Prairie passed away peacefully at Vernon Manor on Monday, September 14, 2020 after a short stay. He was born on October 15th, 1922 in rural DeSoto to Roy and Hattie Fox. He was in the US Army from 1943-1946 serving in New Guinea. After returning home from the war he married his childhood sweetheart Mary Munyon. They had two boys. Farmed near Red Mound and Janesville. After moving to Sun Prairie in 1963 He started working for the Postal service as a letter carrier from 1964-1984. Harry and Mary retired to Victory, they traveled and camped a lot including trip up the Alaskan Highway. He always enjoyed being with his family and grandchildren. He was a lifetime member of the VFW.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years Mary of Viroqua, a son Harlan (Jeanne) of Sun Prairie, Grandsons; Brad (Nicole) Fox, of Windsor; Jeff (Tamara) Fox, of Plymouth; and Paul (Sara) Moll of Erie, CO; 6 Great-Grandchildren; former Daughter-in-Law Christine Moll; Brother-in-Law Howard (Diane) Munyon. He was preceded in death by a his son Raymond, his parents Roy and Hattie, Brothers; Roy(Thelma), Don (Lucille), Lloyd (Hazel), Delmont “Dell”(Eve), Mel, Mae, Milton, Roland(Barb); and his Sister Pearl(Lawrence) Foight. The family would like to thank the staff at Vernon Manor for the care Harry received during his stay and also thanks to Lori Jahnke and Bubba Stegall for always being there.
Private family services will be held. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Burial will take place with military rites in the Victory Cemetery in Victory.
