Tommy G. Lancaster, Age 71 of DeSoto passed away peacefully on Saturday September 19th, 2020 at UW Hospital in Madison from complications of a brain hemorrhage. Tommy was born in June of 1949 to Elvis and Martha Lancaster in Aberdeen Mississippi, the second of seven children. Tommy honorably served his country in Vietnam. In the last four years he stoically fought a brain aneurysm and bladder cancer, never complaining but always insisting he would beat both. His resolve and bravery never wavered, but his body finally did. We are grateful to all who have been there for us in the last four years, most recently, the team at U.W. Life Trauma Unit for all they did for him in his last battle.
Tommy is survived by his wife of 29 years Athena, three children from a previous marriage; Tina (Jon) Ciboski, Corey (Fran) Lancaster, and Denise Lancaster. Siblings; Bobby Lancaster, Judy (Ray) Marcotte, Janey (Dave) Reed, LuAnn (Steve) Oaks, David (Nancy) Lancaster, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and best four-legged buddy his dog Sunny Boy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, friends and friends made family by choice, and family kept family by choice. He was preceded in death by his parents Elvis and Martha Lancaster, sister Mary (Randy) Ehlers, sister-in-law Jane Lancaster and four-legged buddy B-Dog.
At Tommy’s request he will be cremated and there will be no services. A celebration of life will be determined at a later date. To honor his memory, when you meet a veteran, thank them for their service. It meant a lot to him in the last several years to have his sacrifice recognized and appreciated.
The Thorson Funeral Home of Viroqua is proudly serving the family.
